About Hex37
Hex37 is a free crypto paper trading platform built around realistic execution. We exist because most paper trading simulators omit the parts of trading that matter most: slippage, partial fills, funding payments, and liquidations. The lessons traders learn on those simulators do not transfer to real money. We built Hex37 to close that gap.
What Hex37 is
Hex37 streams live market data from Binance and applies realistic execution modelling on top: slippage between 0.05% and 0.2% on every fill, partial fills on sizes that would actually need to be chunked on the live book, probabilistic fills near the top of the book, funding payments every 8 hours based on the actual Binance perpetual funding rate, and liquidations at 1% maintenance margin with the forced-close fee and adverse slippage real liquidations include. Every account starts with $10,000 in virtual USDT. The Free tier is permanent: no card, no trial, no card-on-file gotcha.
The platform covers spot and perpetual futures across 50+ pairs with up to 20x leverage, a position sizer that enforces a sane risk-per-trade plan, a trade journal that auto-logs every fill with R-multiples and breakdown analytics by tag and time-of-day, price alerts, an in-product news feed with AI relevance filtering, and a free 100+ chapter trading curriculum covering technical analysis, risk management, market microstructure, and behavioural psychology. The Pro tier adds AI critique on every closed trade and lifts limits on alerts and journal retention.
Why we built it
The gap between paper trading and real trading is usually blamed on emotion. We think that is half the story. The other half is mechanical: most paper trading platforms fill every order at mid-price, ignore funding, and never simulate a liquidation. Traders who "practise" on those platforms arrive at live trading without ever having paid a real spread or experienced the way funding silently erodes a held position. The first time those costs show up, they show up with real money.
We wanted a lab where the costs were honest. A trade that works in the lab is a trade that survived realistic execution friction. A trade that fails in the lab tells you which cost killed it: slippage on entry, funding drag on the hold, or simply being wrong about direction. That transparency is what builds the mechanical discipline real trading requires.
How we approach the work
Three principles guide what we ship:
- Honesty about costs. Slippage, funding, fees, and liquidation behaviour are simulated against real exchange parameters, not idealised away. See our methodology page for the specific parameters.
- Educational sandbox, not a financial product.Nothing on Hex37 is investment advice. Balances and PnL are simulated; rankings reflect simulated trading skill, not real-money returns. No prizes or cash awards are offered.
- Free at the core. The mechanics every new trader needs to learn (execution, sizing, journal review, risk management curriculum) live on the Free tier. We charge Pro for tools that genuinely add value for committed traders (AI critique, unlimited alerts), not for gates on basic functionality.
Editorial standards
Every blog post and learn chapter is written or reviewed by someone with hands-on trading experience. We update content when the underlying mechanics change (a new bracket-order implementation, a change to funding-rate behaviour, a new instrument added). Date stamps on every page show when the content was last reviewed.
For comparison and review content (such as the best crypto paper trading apps list), we evaluate each platform on the same explicit criteria and disclose where Hex37 competes directly. The full evaluation framework lives on the methodology page.
